Most complaints on this product are about starting. I think this is either user error or defective units. I'm glad I got the version with LEDs, because it's a good indicator of the speed that helped me learn to start it. The mechanism for starting it is simple. There is a spring that needs to engage, then you wind it and let go. The spring won't engage in all positions. For example, if you put it vertical with the arrows pointing up it never engages. Horizontal as in the instructions, or vertical with the arrows pointing down, it works fine. If when you release the wheel the LEDs don't turn on, or barely do, the winding was not enough. They have to turn on in bright multicolor and you know you got it right. Then it's a matter of learning how to move it to get it to rev faster, basically by opposing its movement. I did touch the spinning wheel multiple times, usually on purpose to stop it. It can hurt if you get your skin pinched, but I don't think it can cause an injury. This is ho...More

This is however a downside and hence 4 stars instead of 5. I think it's safe for me, but I would not give it to my kids.

I had an older version of this for years until I wore it out. I originally got it to strengthen my wrists and stave off carpel tunnel syndrome, but I've noticed it has massively increased my grip strength. I quite like the upgrades on this new model. The old one had no way to self-start, which made it difficult to use if one lost the pull-string (Quite easy to do), but this one can be started so easily that I'm having to take it away from the kids. Only thing I can think of to add would be an RPM counter so you can compete with friends.

This not for building muscle. But it will aid in recovery. I can see where some wrist and grip strength will increase, but this is primarily a recovery/traing tool. It should increase blood flow and that's a good thing. Seems well made, so time will tell. Pretty easy to get going.

Once I got the hang of it, it went from being a paperweight to almost an obsession LoL. I feel my forearms after use and my veins show too. I checked out a few videos and what worked for me was after winding it up in the arrows' direction until you can't (this is crucial), rocking it to get the thick white plastic piece (attached to one side of the metal ball) to rotate the ball (while the interior continues it's gyrpscopic thing) -all before rotating my wrist. The wrist lanyard comes in handy once you get it spun up -nice that it comes with 2. The lights are very cool to see, but you have to hold on tightly once you do. The price was reasonable for me..even If it stayed a paperweight :).

I recently stumbled upon the Vital Gyro Ball Wrist Exerciser while searching for guidance on another piece of fitness equipment I was testing out. Ordering it was a spontaneous decision, but it has turned out to be a nice addition to my exercise routine. Upon receiving the Gyroscope Ball Forearm Strengthener, I was immediately struck by its sleek design and robust build. The instructions were straightforward, which made it easy to get started right out of the box. Using the two-thumb method outlined in the manual, I was able to activate the gyro ball within minutes. It was stimulating to feel the momentum build as I gave it a spin. In just two minutes of use, I could already sense the benefits. The resistance provided by the gyro ball engaged my grip and forearm muscles effectively, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I could gauge its potential. While I know that mastering higher speeds will require a bit of practice, I expect it to be an exponential learning curve. The Gyro...More

Fun product that is also useful. Love the way it lights up when you get it going. Great therapy tool for both me and my husband. Which is probably why I purchased two as adults don't share toys either. Lol

It certainly works my wrist, but I am not sure if fingers or grip is effected. Glad I bought a small unit as the ball is slick and tries to escape me afterabout 100 Repeats. For the price, I will keep it and will continue using it, although I think the old Chinese double balls were probably more effective for my fingers.

Easy to get started, was able to get it working the first time. Pretty fun to use, good work out for your forearms. I ordered one with the light, but alas, no light, so that's disappointing and the reason for only four stars.

I rock climb often indoors and out. I use this product three times a week and do four, one minute sets in each hand. Once you get the hang of the perpetual motion/rhythm you can make it work clockwise and counterclockwise. It is smooth and never quits as long as you get the hang of it... and as long has your grip and forearms last. Remember to stretch your hands before and after so you do not strain forearm muscles.

It works like it's intended for the exercise of the wrist and arm area. It's a light noise spinning it but so far it's just fine. it also seems durable while using it off and on in the day.

Great price for these 4 wrist strengtheners. I only use one in the morning for a couple of minutes with each hand and in the evening for a couple of minutes with each hand. You feel the soreness the first few days after use because your wrists are not accustomed to the resistive forces. My wrists are definitely stronger as a result of using these wrist developers. You need to be consistent and not give up. You'll definitely feel the difference after about 2 weeks.
